Paper Tulip Backdrop

Paper Tulip Backdrop

Spring has sprung! Well, maybe it’s still springing? Either way, we’re eager to get back to our gardens and flower pots! This month, our featured illustrator is Kathryn Zaremba (see her printable poster and bookmark here and an interview!) and we were so inspired by her tulip wallpapers, I knew we had to do a paper rendition! Plus, those tulip bulbs should be sprouting up within a month or so! So even if it’s still too early in your neck of the woods to start planting your seeds, put up this Paper Tulip Backdrop to tie you over! Perfect for baby or bridal showers, birthday parties, or even an Easter Brunch.

Countdown to Midnight Backdrop

Countdown to Midnight Backdrop

Christmas is almost here and I’m going to be sad to see all the seasonal magic come to an end. Luckily, we still have New Year’s Eve to keep us in a celebratory mood! For most, New Year’s Eve means getting all dolled up and partying until the wee hours of the morning! For others, it means getting in your comfy clothes and eating a cheese platter for dinner. To each his own! This Countdown to Midnight Backdrop is definitely putting me in the mood for a late night with friends! These days, what’s a party without a photo backdrop, and New Year’s Eve is particularly important! To help count down the hours until the clock strikes twelve, we’ve created a Countdown to Midnight Backdrop complete with clock arrow props! Start looking for your party dress now, you’ll want to dress to impress before the clock strikes twelve!

Tropical Leaf and Hibiscus Backdrop

If you have any memories associated with crafting throughout your life, chances are that Fiskars scissors have been involved. Known for the Original Orange-handled Scissors, their products are the cream of the crop for crafting and have been for as long as I can remember. This month, we’ve partnered with Fiskars to celebrate the 50th Birthday of their iconic orange-handled scissors! Quite the milestone! Inspired by the vibrant orange color of their products, we created bright orange hibiscus flowers out of crepe paper showcased on a deep green tropical leaf backdrop. This is the ultimate party backdrop achieved with just paper and a trusty pair of Fiskars orange-handled scissors. A simple project with a big impact, our favorite kind. You should probably wear a bright orange tropical dress just to pay your proper respects as well 😉

DIY Paper Poppy Backdrop

DIY paper poppy backdrop and pinHave you ever heard of a Decoration Day? It’s now known as Memorial Day here in America and celebrated at the end of this month. But today we are hearkening back to another previous holiday, Remembrance Day, now known as Veterans Day. Though it’s celebrated in November, we thought it would also make for a nice spring/summer project because it’s all about poppies! In the early 1900s, Americans used paper poppies to commemorate military personnel who have died in the war, now known as our Veterans Day. Now the tradition has been adopted worldwide and is used to honor all servicemen who have lost their lives in conflicts. Isn’t that so lovely?

I don’t know about you, but I often think of barbecues, swimming parties, and picnics when I think of Memorial Day. I love those aspects of the holiday, but it’s so much more than that! We came up with an easy DIY that celebrates all elements of this wonderful holiday! Remember our DIY Paper Daisy Backdrop? Well, in honor of Memorial Day we created a DIY Paper Poppy Backdrop along with a paper poppy pin for the day! So now you can have your cake and eat it too… or have your poppy and party too!DIY paper poppy backdrop and pin Read on →

DIY paper daisy backdrop VIDEO and reader submissions

Paper daisy backdrop tutorial by The House That Lars Built

You loved the paper daisy backdrop post so much that I decided to turn it into a video for our YouTube Channel. Now you can see just how easy squeezy it really is to make! I’ve been loving all the pictures you’ve been posting of it since we posted it a month ago. Sadly, I forgot to screen shot some of them so I don’t have that many to post, but I’ll be adding them to this post, so if you’ve made one tag it with #LarsMakes on Instagram!  Read on →
