21st day of Christmas crafts: santa party hat

how to photograph yourself in the mirror? not in focus!
Really great view of the painted-over 3 layers of wallpaper.
Still not centered but at least remembered to smile…
At the bank the other day, the teller was wearing a cute tiny santa hat. It was so presh I’ve been thinking about it ever since and wanting to recreate it. The one I did today is still a tad too big, but I still like it. These days there’s only a small window to take pictures in natural “daylight” (grey skies) from 10am-2pm and since I was out selling my Language of Flower items at a market, I had to race home to an already sunsetted sun. This is me getting desperate in our hallway mirror. How do you take pictures of yourself?!?! On the bright side, today is the shortest day of the year, which means it can only get better. Hallelujah!

I used Jordan’s party hat template and instructions to make this santa hat and then stuck in a bobby pin. I thought they’d be great for a Christmas party or like the bank teller, at work.

20th day of Christmas crafts: Bicycle wreath

I needed a little va-va-va voom to my boring bicycle so I took some Christmas greenery and wired it around to form a wreath. I found it’s much much easier to make wreaths with a form, but since I was wiring it to a basket anyway, I could create any shape I wanted with it. I added some Danish ribbon saying “God jul” or “Merry Christmas” and hope it doesn’t get stolen like my last basket.

16th day of Christmas crafts: Snowflake jar toppers

Last night we made homemade condiments with some friends. Last year it was holiday cookies and this year holiday condiments and funny enough, probably just as much sugar used in each. Anywhoo, we had a lot of fun making remoulade, pickles, honey mustard, spicy mustard, and normal mustard and added some toppers to them and these are the fruits of our labors. Today I turned the toppers into snowflakes and added some tissue and crepe paper under.

15th day of Christmas crafts: Spinners

I found this little vintage party supply shop in Copenhagen a few months ago selling these little spinners (above left). The owner explained that they used to use these for 2 purposes: 1) for Christmas games and 2) for construction workers working on top of a roof who would use it to decide who was going to go down and get the beer. I thought they were pretty darling myself so I painted my own version (on the right). I thought they’d be perfect for a game of deciding who gets to open the gifts first.
Materials: 1. top spinner with numbers  2. brad  3. bottom
Enjoy!
ALSO, you MUST check out my friend’s new hosting blog, Eats and Beats. She creates recipes and fabulous playlists. She was kind enough to invite me to guest post. Check it out here
