Can you believe it’s already October? Summer still seems to be hanging on here, but the nights are so much chillier now! I’m in love with this Autumn desktop calendar because it perfectly captures my ideal fall day: a bite to eat at an outdoor cafe, leaves beginning to fall, and people enjoying the crisp air. Now if only my house looked like this illustration! What are you looking forward to this fall?

It’s starting to feel crispy! Are you feeling it?! Once again, time strikes us with a reminder of the changing of the seasons and I am NOT READY! But, I am ready to spend a little more time indoors making stuff. Monica, created a lovely wallpaper for your desktop and phones based on some of her recent thrift stores finds and I, for one, am all about that floral chair. Please and thank you!
Have you enjoyed Tales from the Back Row? A look inside the fashion industry is equally entertaining and perplexing, isn’t it? Odell does a good job at giving the inside scoop while keeping an “outsider’s” point of view. Check out discussion questions below (if you’ve been following us on Insta, maybe you’ve read some of them already!), and further reading suggestions – we read Grace Coddington’s memoir last year and it was fabulous! This month’s awesome artwork is by one of my previous interns, Victoria Riza, who has gone and done some incredible things! We hope you enjoy!
July is upon us and we’re celebrating with these quirky French guys in berets! Bastille Day is later this month and it is one of my favorite holidays! If you’re unfamiliar, it’s July 14th and celebrates the French Independence. No, I’m not French, nor do I live in France. But I’ll take any opportunity to celebrate everything Parisian! Oui Oui! I hope your July is full of celebrations and you’re soaking up every ounce of Summer. Perhaps you have some vacation plans? If so, Bon Voyage!
We shamelessly chose Craft the Rainbow as this month’s book club book. How could we not?! It’s a pretty great book if you ask me. The cherry on top? Illustrator and artist extraordinaire, Lisa Congdon created the printable book art! It’s amazing, no? “The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most” by John Ruskin. Words to live by! Lisa Congdon is also quoted in the pink chapter of the book so you’ll have to check it out!
Since the virtual book tour has come to a close, the launch party is over, and you can now all get your hands on a copy, we wanted to talk about some of our favorite projects within the book. Each of these projects has a story behind its creation and some of them make for great stories though at the time I wasn’t laughing so much. Ha! Turns out, the making of a book, especially 40 full crafts and scenes, is a lot of work and a lot of logistical organization so there were a few hiccups along the way. Let’s check them out!
