I saw something like these lollipop balloons ages ago and couldn’t remember where or what they looked like so I made my own version for Hello Bee. I thought they were the perfect pairing for the candy lights I made for Christmas. Can you tell I have a (reluctant) sweet tooth?

I have to say that this is one of my favorite shoots I’ve done. And there’s a lot more where these come from. ooOOOoo! I did this one for the Etsy wedding blog and talked about creating an interactive wedding favor, hence the fortune cookies inside with little love fortunes. I also thought a wedding cake would be a nice alternative to the couple who doesn’t really do wedding cakes or sugar. But let’s face, the real reason to have a pinata at a wedding is…who doesn’t want to hit stuff? I’m sure it would release a lot of tension for the couple as well as the wedding planners.
The last project of my DIY summer series is up on design*sponge. I made a flower hanger/holder for flowers and sticks and stuff, which I’ve found to be quite handy especially living near so much wonderful greenery. I’ve even attached it to my bike and gone around town collecting wildflowers and sticks to make my paper flowers. You can do the ombre part right in your kitchen with pots.
Confession: I don’t always use the diy projects that I make. I don’t! Our place is way too tiny to keep it all so I tend to give a lot of stuff away. Well, when I was thinking of projects to do for my summer series for design*sponge, I tried thinking of things that I would actually use and a laundry rack was high on my list. With no dryer, drying space is essential and our one iron rack doesn’t always cut it so i triggered up this hanging rack out of wood and rope. The best part about it is that it’s easy to roll up and put away. It’s currently outside on our terrace full of semi-dry clothing so I’d consider it a success.
I made a cupcake stand out of candlestick holders for Brooklyn Bride and decided to try it with a different flavor so I used shocking pink spray paint. Shocked are you? It’s so easy! And guess who took the photos? ME! I got a 50mm lens for my birthday and my life has officially changed for the better. Thank you mom! I still have A LOT to learn so please be patient.
