DIY Painted Rainbow Sun Hat

DIY Rainbow Painted Sun Hat

The sun is starting to shine and it’s making me wonder why I even tolerate winter. And then I remember my obsession with tights… Nevertheless, this California-bred girl loves the warm weather! I’ve never quite jumped on the tanning bandwagon, perhaps due to disappointment with sunless tanning lotions. Or maybe it’s because of an abundance of adorable swimsuit coverups and sunhats. It’s hard to find the perfect hat for the summer, so we took matters into our own hands and made our own! The power of craft! This DIY Painted Rainbow Sun hat is a perfect balance. It’s a classic rattan, wide-brim hat, and did we mention it’s from Ikea? But underneath, there’s a peekaboo rainbow! Surprise surprise! It’s super simple and we can assure you you’ll get plenty of compliments. Hat’s off to you!

Paper Mâché Rainbow Vase

If you’re a crafter (or you live with one…) you probably have paintbrushes, pencils, rulers, markers, and pens scattered all over your workspace. This might make you (or the person you live with…) a bit crazy. As much as you want to put them away, these are tools that you need at the ready! So you can’t just simply put them away! Okay, so maybe this is my self-conscious trying to justify my untidy tendencies. I’m hoping I’m not alone in these feelings. But because I’m more right-brained, the art of organization is just not my strong suit! Yet I’ve come to realize that it’s a necessity in order to run a successful business. Consequently, there has been a large increase in storage boxes, bins, and baskets at the studio. Yet, I still needed a convenient place for my everyday tools. Insert: the Paper Mâché Rainbow Vase! It is the perfect solution for storing craft tools, while still passing as a unique art piece. I have crafted a rainbow to hold my craft supplies so I can craft more rainbows. Now if that isn’t genius I don’t know what is 😉

We’re big fans of ceramics artist, Lisa Junius, and came across her rainbow vase, which was no longer available for purchase. Being the paper lovers that we are, we had to try out a paper version so we could get our rainbow fix on this month. We love using ours as a pencil holder.

DIY Paper Rainbow Brooch

You know how you’re supposed to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day? Pink on Valentine’s Day? Orange on Halloween? The list goes on and on. Well, when are we supposed to wear rainbows? ALL THE TIME. I understand that it can be a bit difficult to wear a complete rainbow in one outfit. Unless you have this dress. In which case I am extremely jealous. But, for situations that a stunning, very expensive, rainbow dress wouldn’t be acceptable, you can wear this DIY paper rainbow brooch! A tiny touch of rainbow that you can put on just about everything!

Rainbow Cupcakes

Rainbow cupcakes

You know the song “Over the Rainbow” by Harry Nilsson? It’s one of my most favorite songs. That along with “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles. Clearly I’m a fair-weather girl. And always looking to the future? Maybe I should delve into the deeper meaning of this…but, back to the song. Guys, it is a classic. The melody, the lyrics–“Where troubles melt like lemon drops”?! It’s so sweet! Which inspired us to create an even sweeter (pun intended) application of rainbows! These rainbow cupcakes are so simple to create and look absolutely adorable! With St. Patrick’s Day coming right up, these are the perfect treat to celebrate. Or maybe you know someone who is feeling a little blue and could use a pick me up. These rainbow cupcakes are a surefire way to melt their troubles like lemon drops. So listen to a little Harry Nilsson, make a batch of rainbow cupcakes, and ride a unicorn! Okay, forget the unicorn, let’s just spread some cheer!
