3 last minute DIY costumes from your craft closet

DIY unicorn costume

I think about what I’m going to wear for Halloween nearly every single day of the year. Sadly, I’m not joking. BUT, when it comes down to actually carrying out my plans, I’m usually so burned out that I end up doing something quick and easy if I do anything at all. Well, this Halloween season, we’ve teamed up with Bath and Body Works over the next three weeks to create 7 costumes inspired by their large variety of sweet smelling fragrance mists. Today we’re sharing 3 last minute costumes you can make from your craft closets, which is good for all of you who don’t want to put that much time or money into your costumes. Think tissue paper, paper plates, and drinking straws, cardboard, balloons, paint, batting. All cheap and easy yet have so much impact. In fact, I wore the unicorn costume to my first costume of the season and the kids loved it! Also on the list: hippies…diy-hippy-costume-from-craft-closet-34…and an all pink Marie Antoinette.DIY Marie Antoinette Halloween costume Learn how to make the costumes and see what we were inspired by. Day 57 of Dress the Rainbow

Eva Jorgensen of Sycamore Street Press

Day 57 of Dress the Rainbow black with Eva Jorgensen of Sycamore Street Press, a gorgeous stationery company. Eva has been a friend of mine for the past few years dating back to when I first started blogging. We ended up meeting at the first ever Alt Summit and remained online friends during my years in Denmark. Being in the same state, I have come to admire Eva for her stellar business practices, whole living, and her dedication to craft and family. Eva runs SSP with her awesome husband, Kirk, and they will be debuting a new collection of curated goods on their site for the fall and holidays. I’m so thrilled for all their success.

Day 48 of Dress the rainbow

Small Fry Dress the RainbowSmall Fry Dress the Rainbow

Day 48 of Dress the Rainbow in bright white with the lovely ladies of Small Fry, a children’s blog based here in Provo. These three are quite the team, ripping up the children’s blogosphere with cute and stylish crafts along with style advice for moms. One of my favorite projects was this video about kids and love. SO good! Thanks for dressing the rainbow with my ladies!

Day 45 of Dress the rainbow

Lacey vintage dresses

Day of 45 of Dress the Rainbow in purple with Lacy Timmerman of Lacy Dresses Vintage and her mom’s shop, Why Naught shop. I first met these lovely ladies at Vintage Whites flea market earlier this year and it was love at first sight. I felt like I had found a long lost sister. This duo does an amazing job of curating the best of the best vintage dresses out there (I wanted this one so bad! Scroll down!). Lacey is getting married in the next couple of weeks and it’s been so fun to see all the elements she’s creating for it.

And another fun celebrity story: Mindy Kaling bought the dress on the right just last week. Gah!

Day 33 of Dress The Rainbow

Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag

Day 33 of Dress The Rainbow in light teal with Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag, illustrator (of this adorable flower), kids crafter extraordinaire, blogger. Here’s the thing about Merrilee. You’d never know it by the initial meeting because she’s so humble, but Merrilee knows everything. When I need sound design advice, I go to Mer. When I need technical advice info to Mer. When I need hair/make up advice I also go to Mer. She knows everything! Even things you wouldn’t expect. Aside from that her knowledge of everything, she’s a great friend with fun kids, a beautiful house, kind heart, a huge imagination, and a pure love of making beautiful things. If you’re unfamiliar with her work, get to know it! And stay tuned for her line of dolls this fall!
