DIY Dyed Handkerchiefs

DIY Dyed HandkerchiefsA few weeks back we threw our “Say hi to Pie” Fourth of July party. You may or may not have noticed that the napkins we used were actually red bandanas that we bleached to give them a softer and more subtle color. We loved the end result so much and quickly decided we needed to create a whole rainbow of bleached bandanas. Especially since a good ol’ bandana makes a perfect necktie of neck scarf!

These DIY Dyed Handkerchiefs flaunt tinted colors that are so much prettier than the ones you buy at the craft store. And all you need is a little bit of bleach to achieve the look! It’s amazing how different the resulting colors can be depending on the amount of bleach and the amount of time you soak them. Whether you use them for napkins, accessorize your outfit with them, or wrap a gift with them, they add a beautiful touch!

Pom Pom Your Wardrobe

Pom Pom Your Wardrobe

I used to think pom poms were meant strictly for craft projects. That was until last year and all of a sudden pom poms were popping up everywhere! Gone were the googley eyes and craft sticks that had traditionally adorned pom poms, and in replace were chic handbags and sandals. The trend is still holding strong and we couldn’t be happier about it! But, let’s be real for a minute, who knows how long the pom pom trend will last? We can’t very well attach pom poms to every item of our clothing just to have to get rid of them the next season when they’re back to being a craft supply. But, don’t worry, we have your solution! We decided to glue magnets to the back of the pom poms so that you could easily pom pom your wardrobe without permanently altering your clothes! From skirts to shirts to shoes, the sky is the limit! We chose 4 ways to add pom poms to our wardrobe. So wear those pom poms with pride! As soon as you tire of the trend, remove the magnets and add them to your craft storage 🙂

Crepe Paper Fringe Necklace

Crepe Paper fringe necklace

You know the feeling when you find the perfect shirt and you feel like you need it in all the colors? Or the perfect pair of jeans so you buy 3 different washes in the same style? That’s how I feel about this necklace. I’m head over heals for this crepe paper fringe necklace! It’s a little bit bohemian, a little bit victorian, and the perfect accessory to add a bit of color to an outfit. We made the green one thinking it would be the perfect way to add a touch of green to your wardrobe for St. Patrick’s day. I love the way it looks against the dark blue dress. It’s a little moody and understated. But then I had another idea…Crepe Paper fringe necklace

We decided to take it a step further and do a whole rainbow spectrum! I can’t help my affinity for rainbows, I think it’s part of my genetic makeup… but I’m not mad about it! The rainbow gave the necklace a completely different look! The way it pops against the graphic black and white window pane shirt is too good. So whether you go for monochromatic, rainbow, or both(!) you’ll be sure to make a statement!

Origami Cornucopia

origami-cornucopia-

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I can always count on the same friends, family, and food being present. This is often the only time of the year when I get to see certain loved ones and consume the yummiest foods. Why oh why must we save all the apple and pumpkin goodies for such a short time? However, I do believe the traditional decor for Thanksgiving leaves a little (a lot?) to be desired. We decided to mix things up and create an origami cornucopia, which is something I’ve been wanting to try for awhile. With a rainbow of fruits and vegetables to fill it, of course. After the paper crane costume we created for Halloween a few weeks ago, we went a little crazy over origami, and this is the fruits (literally HA!) of our labor! I LOVE how it turned out. The origami can be a bit time consuming, but it’s the perfect activity to do while watching those wonderfully cheesy Hallmark Holiday films. This rainbow origami cornucopia will put all those boring wicker ones to shame!
