Crafting for Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite things to do. Unlike Christmas, there’s not much else to focus on so it can be calmer and less stressed. Plus, it’s pretty low stakes and smaller-sized projects. I wanted to do something snowflake like but with Valentine’s themes and I love how these Valentine snowflakes turned out! They’d be great for writing notes on or displaying in a window or placing things on like a doily.

Folk Flowers
- Select a square piece of paper for your snowflake. Standard origami paper works well for tiny sized ones, but you can also cut a regular sheet into a square by folding one corner diagonally and trimming the excess.
-
For the folk flower fold the paper in half long ways, and then in half again. Place the template on top of the corner, trace and you’re set! To get the enclosed circles, I cut each one out separately so that it would cut nicely.
Swans
- The swan shape is unlike the other two in that you have to fold it three times. Once length wise, then another to form a square, and then one more time to be on an angle.
-
Place your swan template on and cut out.
Hearts
-
Like the folk flower, fold it lengthwise, then in a square, place your template then cut.
Add embellshments
- If you want to take your Valentine snowflakes to the next level, consider these embellishment ideas: Glitter: Apply glue along certain edges and sprinkle glitter for a sparkling effect. Markers: Use markers to outline hearts or add messages. Stickers: Place small Valentine-themed stickers for added charm. Layering: Glue smaller snowflakes onto larger ones for a 3D effect.
Of course, you don’t have to use our templates to create love themed designs. You can come up with your own too! The beauty of these templates is that you can upload the SVG files into your craft cutting machine and make them bigger or smaller according to your paper size.
Display and Gift Ideas
Here are some creative ways to use your Valentine snowflakes:
- Window Decorations: Tape them to windows for a festive look.
- Greeting Cards: Attach a snowflake to the front of a handmade Valentine’s Day card.
- Gift Wrap: Use snowflakes as unique gift toppers.
- Garlands: String multiple snowflakes together to create a romantic garland.
- Table Settings: Scatter them across the table for a charming dinner decoration.
Tips for Crafting Success
- Practice First: Start with simple designs before attempting intricate patterns.
- Keep It Symmetrical: Symmetry is key to beautiful snowflakes.
- Use Sharp Scissors: Dull scissors can make cutting difficult and messy.
- Experiment with Sizes: Try making snowflakes in different sizes for variety.
- Recycle Mistakes: Even if a design doesn’t turn out as expected, it might still look unique and beautiful!
Variations and Creative Twists
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Here are some fun variations:
- Colored Layers: Stack snowflakes of different colors for a layered look.
- Mixed Themes: Combine Valentine and winter elements, such as snowflakes with heart-shaped centers.
- Personalized Messages: Write love notes on the snowflakes before cutting them out.
