Custom pillows and DIY lampshade

Custom Pillows with Roostery and SpoonflowerFor her BFA a number of years ago, my sister designed several textile designs and had them custom designed on the then new-to-me platform, Spoonflower. She then sewed pieces of clothing and had all the guests at her final show dress up in them. I was living in Denmark at the time so sadly, I was unable to experience the magic, but I’ve been told that it was indeed magic (You can see some of her work here). They had brought her designs to life.DIY lampshade with Spoonflower fabric

Spoonflower was the first platform I had heard of that offered the ability to create custom fabric from your own designs. I first heard about them while I was a graduate student in interior design and textile design. I ended up trying out a number of different patterns of my own designs over the years and being super pleased with it. Well, I hadn’t checked in with them in awhile and was super surprised to find out how much the platform had grown over the years. If you’re unfamiliar, on the platform, you can either design your own fabric, wallpaper and gift wrap and get it printed on a variety of fabric and paper OR you can sell your designs OR you can select from the other designer’s fabrics. And there are SO many great options to choose from!

Miami City Guide

Last week Jasper, Jane our photographer, and I headed down to Miami for Art Week 2018. I didn’t have much of a grasp of the city other than Vice, Will Smith, and Gianni Versace–it always seemed so foreign to me as someone from a drastically different beach town on the opposite side of the country. You know what I learned? It’s a magical glistening oasis of art, frolics, and beautiful people that somehow doesn’t feel real. It’s like a playground for adults. And yet, somehow, also how life should be: a perfect 75 degrees with always something to do.

Though the purpose of our trip was for art and thus my mind was solely focused on it, I was still surprised at how much there was to see all around. It’s everywhere! On walls, on the side of the street, signs, architecture, sidewalks, you name it. And our partner for the trip, Uber was our jumping off point to connect us to all the right spots in just 48 hours!

December 2018 Desktop and phone wallpapers

Not a creature was stirring, not even a….MOUSE! Tis the season for an adorable mouse dressed in florals to sit atop your technology all in the name of the HOLIDAYS! Set this adorable critter as your desktop calendar/wallpaper or for your phone and let the spirit of the season take over, much like the mouse infestation that’s currently our work studio. Enjoy!

Decorating a Forgotten Space

Do you ever get an itch to rearrange the furniture? Or just decorate completely? I find myself getting bored really easily, so my home decor seems to be constantly changing. In this spirit, the other day I made a trip to Tuesday Morning and found just the items I needed to give my living room a little refresh. I have some underutilized areas that I felt could benefit from some sprucing up. A chair, a throw, a few pillows, some foliage and we’re in business! Tuesday Morning has an eclectic array of home decor items at amazing prices and you just never know what you’re going to find! It’s all about the serendipitous find! Each location has unique finds so make sure you check out your local store! Take a look at my favorite picks below!

Furniture combos for my new living room

Earlier this week I revealed my new living room (pop on over if you missed it!), and I am still so thrilled with how it turned out. I find myself smiling from ear to ear when I walk into my house. It’s that good and life-altering. However, deciding on a design plan wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. From selecting colors, to picking a wallpaper, to choosing furniture, there were so many options to be weighed! If you remember my old living room, I had a beautiful emerald green sectional from Article that we loved. It was so well loved, especially now that Jasper has made his mark, that we needed something where I’d feel more comfortable letting him climb all over. Since we loved our green sofa so much, we decided to turn to Article again for round two! I whipped out my photoshop magic to show you the combinations I was toiling over.
