In the mood for: Anne of Green Gables

Based on your interest and definitely ours, we’re going to start sharing more interior design posts with you. Think mood boards, shop the looks, home tours, tips, round ups, renovation projects, the whole she-bang. Interior design is my background and you have responded really well to our renovations and before/after posts from One Room Challenge and my home posts so it only makes sense! We’re starting with a new column called In the Mood For, where we will be sharing some curated mood boards of famous characters and people that we love. There are few people we love more than Anne Shirely, aka: Anne with an E so thus, here’s how we envision her life.

Back-To-School: Designing Multifunctional Small Spaces before and after

Back-to-school has us thinking about the infamous “dorm room.”  Such a small space with generic and mismatched furniture. Decorating your first “space” is a coming-of-age ritual: looking for inspiration for bedding, wall art, plants, etc…  However, keeping a small space functional and cute can always be a little tricky. This got us thinking about Mary’s small space guest room (about 86 sq. ft.). We teamed up with DHP furniture once again (you can see previous posts here!) to create a multifunctional room that’s perfect for students and young professionals alike with the help of some of our favorite pieces.  With names like “Brittany” and “Jasper” (a happy coincidence!) we couldn’t help BUT snatch them up for our Back-to-School inspired room. Check out the before and after of Mary’s new space!

The new Lars Print Shop and flash sale!

We’ve been hustling behind the scenes on a special project and today we finally get to introduce you to our latest addition to The House That Lars Built shop, our Print Shop! Cue the confetti! In it you’ll find a collection of some of our favorite prints from our Book Club series featuring a host of awesome illustrators from around the world as well as some of our favorites from our long-time desktop calendar contributor, Monica Dorazewski.

While we’ve been offering our Book Club posters and bookmarks and desktop calendars as free downloads since we started both series 3 years ago, we’ve had a lot of people over the years request that we take it a step further and take out the hassle of the printing process altogether. We get it! Printing can get tricky! From actually getting it done, to finding a good printer, to putting it in a frame, then finally getting it up. How many of you have had good intentions but still blank walls?!

We heard you! And not only did we hear you, but we have given you the option to get it FRAMED and MATTED! Is your heart beating yet?  Read on →

Our favorite pieces from Drew Barrymore’s new home collection

Just in case you needed another reason to love Drew Barrymore, she’s gone and given us another reason to kiss the ground she walks on. Drew recently launched her home goods line, Flower Home, and wow is it something. She’s serving up all kinds of colorful and whimsical pieces for your home, with everything from an abstract layered table to an adorable pet bed. As a whole, the line makes for a beautifully eclectic collection, as if someone traveled the world and picked out their favorite pieces from each country. Think Anthropologie or West Elm, but with a price point that’s about half that. It might be her best performance since Never Been Kissed.

Flower Home offers a fresh perspective on so many of the exciting trends we’ve seen float through 2019. Ms. Barrymore has, in our humble opinion, successfully taken one of our favorite tones of the year, blush, and pushed it into an entirely new realm. She offers up a little bit of this and a little bit of that to make her collection fit just about anyone’s needs, and make our homes feel like a wonderfully curated, one-of-a-kind space. AND, she even has a great collection for kids, because all you moms out there know how hard it is to find great children’s stuff that is cute and not a bad price.

Her line is available not only at Walmart, but also Hayneedle.com and Jet.com. Below are a few of our favorite items you can shop right now.
