Lollipop balloons

I saw something like these lollipop balloons ages ago and couldn’t remember where or what they looked like so I made my own version for Hello Bee. I thought they were the perfect pairing for the candy lights I made for Christmas. Can you tell I have a (reluctant) sweet tooth?

How to make an ombre wedding cake pinata

I have to say that this is one of my favorite shoots I’ve done. And there’s a lot more where these come from. ooOOOoo! I did this one for the Etsy wedding blog and talked about creating an interactive wedding favor, hence the fortune cookies inside with little love fortunes. I also thought a wedding cake would be a nice alternative to the couple who doesn’t really do wedding cakes or sugar. But let’s face, the real reason to have a pinata at a wedding is…who doesn’t want to hit stuff? I’m sure it would release a lot of tension for the couple as well as the wedding planners.

Thank you Amanda Thomsen for taking these beautiful photos!

Single cupcake stand

I made a cupcake stand out of candlestick holders for Brooklyn Bride and decided to try it with a different flavor so I used shocking pink spray paint. Shocked are you? It’s so easy! And guess who took the photos? ME! I got a 50mm lens for my birthday and my life has officially changed for the better. Thank you mom! I still have A LOT to learn so please be patient.
And here’s the wedding version over at Brooklyn Bride.

For another cupcake stand idea check out this other one I made out of board.

30 til 30: Gold!

Guys, I’m SO behind with my 30 crafts in 30 days before 30 years. I hope this isn’t a premonition of this upcoming decade. Yikes! But today’s is SUPER easy. I mean, SUPER. Just get some gold spray paint, masking tape, and some kraft paper notebooks and you’re golden (te he, sorry, punny.) I picked these notebooks up in Berlin at a store I like to call “heaven” but it’s really called Modular. It’s a supplies store with anything your heart desires and Germany prices are SO amazing. Anything is compared to Denmark though.
1. Just cover the parts your want protected with masking tape. I didn’t have any at the moment so I used some cheap stuff that comes off easily.
2. Give it a little spray from about 18″ away. It doesn’t need too much.

3. The best part is definitely the ripping off moment. Look how nice that line looks.

Voila! Now I have a few notebooks for my new studio space. Thanks to Line for helping me with the photos.
Countdown:
20 days and 26 more projects.
PS- don’t forget to enter the illustration giveaway! Last day is today!

30 til 30: Mexican picado banners

So, if you’re just joining in, I’m making 30 crafts in the 30 days prior to turning 30. This weekend I made some geometric Mexican picado banners to go along with the pinata for a friend’s Mexican themed party on Saturday. I used Jenny’s instructions found here. They were an absolute cinch to make and I love how they fill the space. I made some more for my new workshop to make the space feel more than it is right now.
