DIY rainbow welcome mat

rainbow rug tutorial

Clearly, I can’t get rainbows out of my mind after the St. Patrick’s Day rainbow fest! And I don’t know if they’ll end anytime soon.

As you know, I love dressing up Ikea rugs each season (like these fruit mats and this donut rug) and now instead of coming in a full circle, Ikea sells them in half circles—score! One step easier! So, I turned it into a rainbow welcome mat to brighten the entry.

Green for St. Patrick’s Day can be awfully obtrusive to a non-green lover. I do love the color but sometimes it can come in the most non-lovely colors. SO, we turn to rainbows! And I think we can agree on a mutual love of rainbows, right? I decided on a paper flower wreath, because why not?! It’s sitting on my door right now.

5 Ways to wear green on St. Patrick’s day

St. Patrick's day green ideas

This post could also be called “How not to get pinched” on St. Patrick’s day. As you know, I’m a dresser upper for holidays. It used to be a lot worse but I’d say I’m a bit more toned down in my more, shall we say, “mature” years. Mostly because I work from home and I don’t leave the house much. Sometimes you just need to show that you’re not a Scrooge so you’ll add in a bit of red for Valentine’s Day and a dash of green for St. Patrick’s day. Amiright? And usually you don’t want to spend much time on it, so here are 5 easy (nearly glue gunless and sewless) ways to add in that dash of green for St. Patrick’s day.
