You knew it was coming right? I couldn’t help myself! I’ve now done a flamingo balloon arch, shamrock, heart…a rainbow balloon arch was a necessity! Once again, I teamed up with Birdie’s Bakery to bring the gold at the end of the rainbow in the form of gold nugget sugar cookies. They are delicious.
So, will you be making a balloon arch? Have you made one? If you have, post it and tag it with #makingwithlars. I’ll be featuring them on an upcoming post.
In these colder months there’s nothing I enjoy/need more than warmth of any kind, whether that be a heating pad, an electric blanket, or … POPCORN! Popcorn just makes everything better doesn’t it? It feels like a treat without feeling like you’re going to keel over on a cholesterol overdose. Our resident baker/chef, Mary Elizabeth, came up with some delicious unique popcorn flavors to add some variety to the typical buttered variety. And let me tell you, this was a fun and filling shoot for me. photography by Laura Sumrak | Recipes by Mary Elizabeth Hammond
Nothing rings in the holidays more than delicious hot chocolate and giving, so this holiday season I’m thrilled to partner with GODIVA to help warm our hearts and hands with hot chocolate along with meaningful ways to give. A great combo! We wanted to do our own special take on the traditional hot chocolate to celebrate GODIVA’s partnership with Toys for Tots this season, where from December 1st until the 15th of December, they are donating $1 to children in need with every cup of hot chocolate beverage you purchase at their store. Doing good by drinking chocolate? Yes, please!
We came up with three unique hot chocolate sundae recipes (ice cream and hot chocolate? Oh my!) made from GODIVA’s Hot Chocolate and each with their own “toy” topper in honor of the partnership: gingerbread hot chocolate sundae with a singing in the rain gingerbread man toy topper, peppermint hot chocolate sundae with a peppermint toy topper, dark chocolate caramel swirl with caramel marshmallows toy toppers. Guys, prepare to be dazzled.
Guys! I’m so happy to introduce you to a brand new company called Modify Ink. I was introduced to them late last year and was super thrilled to partner with them on this baby shower I threw for my photographer and friend, Melissa Leavitt, who you know from all the fun styled shoots I’ve been doing recently. She just had her baby, Mabel Fawn, yesterday (!!!!!), and she’s the prettiest baby I’ve ever seen and so lucky to have the best mama in the world. Gah! Babies! Everyone’s having babies! Which means that I get to throw lots of showers!
You know how you’re planning a party or adding artwork to your home and you’re like, “hmmm, I’d buy it if it was a different color?” or “I wish that purple was a different color. It’s just throwing it off for me?” Enter Modify Ink! EVERYTHING is customizable so that you can change all the colors to what fits with the theme of your party or color of your home. They start off with suggestions, which I found to be really helpful and on point already, so that all you have to do is tweak it a bit to customize it. It’s absolutely perfect for parties because of the custom names and details you can add yourself and the colors of the decor.
The theme of our party was Flora and Fauna and the Garden Party suite was the perfect fit for it. I consulted with the mom-to-be on color preferences and adjusted a few things, but overall, the black botanical feel was a winner and we didn’t change too much.
After you customize it, they send you everything cut and ready to go for the party, which is AMAZING, especially if you’re short on time. There are so many elements you can order: banners, garlands, invitations, stickers, flags, gift tags, favor boxes. Man, I’m sounding like a hokey commercial, but honestly, I just think it’s going to change your life. Especially if you want a stellar looking party but don’t want to spend all the time in the world making it look good. It’s that good. And I’m a convert.
We used it to customize some drink labels and flags:
I’m “technically” off sugar for the month of March (I’m going to buy myself something from here if I succeed), but these St. Patrick’s Day cake pops might be my downfall. You see, Mary Elizabeth always bakes the yummiest goodies that I just can’t resist and today she’s sharing how to make them. I mean…they’re key lime pie cake pops! Are you dying along with me? Just top them off with some shamrocks and gold nuggets and you’re good to go! See the full tutorial and shop the post below.
