If you’re just joining me, I threw a garden party with Sarah Jane Studios, Mer Mag, One More Mushroom, Sycamore Street Press, Caravan Shoppe. It was a way to say thank you to all the people out there who support us because we couldn’t do what we love and without you. It turned out to be a party much bigger (and better!) than any of us intended, but we couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out so we’re boldly calling it a success. I’m dividing the photos into two parts–they’re just too lovely not to share all of it with you. It couldn’t have happened without the support of many, many people–especially Cricut— so stick with me as I attempt to thank them here.
I learned so much from this event so I thought it might be helpful to share some tips on what to do and what NOT to do.

We’re gearing up for our big Midsummer party on Saturday and we have SO much to do. There will be lots of handmade elements sprinkled throughout the garden so we’re getting our craft on big time! It’s turned into more of an effort than my wedding!
Some of you have expressed interested in learning the braided hair styles that we did for the Flamingo Pop shoot with BHLDN and I thought Midsummer was the perfect time to try them out. Jessie M, who created the styles, graciously provided the tutorials so you can recreate them yourself. Midsummer or not, they are perfect for getting the hair out of your way and looking adorable at the same time.
Greetings from the paradise we call California! Sometimes, while living in Denmark, I wondered why anyone would not live in California. The weather is perfection. But then there’s the traffic….and then I’m reminded why. I’m visiting my family to celebrate my dear sister-in-law who flew in from England for her baby shower. I have a niece on Paul’s side of the family, but I’ve never gone through the process of seeing a baby born within our own family and I’m so so so thrilled for this little one.
This week was awesome and nuts and insane and bizarre. There was lots of good sprinkled with some truly weird moments that made me rethink if people have read the “how to be a good human handbook” recently. Oh man…if only that book existed. What would you contribute to it? I would contribute “keep your hands to yourself.”
Long story short: there’s a rapist/groper going around my town and we’re pretty sure he was at our bedroom window the other night before Paul scared him off. I don’t mean to make a dramatic scene over here but I’ve since learned that people don’t lock their doors or windows much, especially around here because they feel a sense of “safety”. Guys, for EVERYONE’s sake, just be careful. The more people are less careful, the more these crazy people become empowered and attempt to open doors and windows and do unthinkable things. Just be smart! How’s that for a PSA?
In other news this week: I’m doing a giveaway with Saguaro where you have to tag a picture of a color that inspires you and mine tends to be florals like these (top left). I styled a book for Anne of Flax & Twine in Park City this week (part of the good part of the week, top right and bottom left). I’m working on a floral project for Laura Ashley (bottom right).
