Lars’ (play) List: August

I’m the WORST when it comes to finding new music. I basically listen to classical, oldies, whatever gets my groove on, Janet Varney’s JV Club podcasts, or whatever people give me. Basically, I rely on much cooler people to fill my ipod. Enter, Katie Farber of This, That, & The Other. In addition to contributing twice a month with a “Outfit to room” she’ll be providing a playlist on the first Monday of each month. Yay! New material for my route to work. Thanks Katie!

This Week

Since I never get bored about talking about the weather, let’s discuss. Copenhagen did not have a cloud in the sky this whole week. BLISSSSSSS! I wore sandals! Without tights! I refuse to have someone rain on my parade (literally) and tell me about the thunderstorms tomorrow night.

(top left)These colorful paper squares above? A little hint of a project from this week.
(top right) Those radishes are seriously going to explode! They are from the garden.
(bottom left) We listened to the history of the Vor Frue Kirke and listened to some of the most gorgeous music thanks to the Festinord choir.
(bottom right) A hidden passage.

This week:
A review of Craftenhagen and announcement of our next meet-up in August
How to make an ombre pinata wedding cake
Our house now looks like this
A new column and guest blogger, Outfit to Room

This Girl: XV

This Girl  |  Reads  |  Gardens

I started this This Girl with the “reading” room that I found from Katy Elliott as I’ve been scouting out places to go in the South of France in September. Anyone have any tips? I’m looking for one place where we can stay for a number of days that an art lover would love. A town with cute shops and markets. A town where we can find fabrics and flowers and where we are inspired to paint and photograph. Am I the biggest mooch alive? I swear I’m not super needy in real life, I just trust my dear readers’ opinion. Shoot!

Garden couture at Dior

Raf Simons debuted his first collection for the house of Dior at last week’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2012 show. He envisioned a magical canvas of flowers within an intimate salon setting to set off his feminine silhouttes. I’d say….ACHIEVED! Each room contains hundreds of thousands of flowers from floor to ceiling: peonies, goldenrods, dahlias, carnations, delphiniums, roses…oh my!

The kicker is this video of assembling the set. The stylist in me is thinking “so much work to do in so little time” and the daughter-of-a-finance-father is thinking “how much is each flower?!”And the artist in me is thinking “now, THAT’s how you create magic in fashion.” I think this is the perfect blend of all the arts: fashion, set design, interior design, floral design. Dior, hats off for creating magic. You’re living out my dream budget. Now, go watch the video and check out Dior’s magazine.

Thanks Rubi for the tip!

This week

This week we had the best guests in town: Cree and Amanda Jones. The. Best. Guests. Look under “guest” in the dictionary and their names will pop up I promise you. We just had the greatest time with them. We laughed, we cried. We laughed and cried at the same time (well, some of us did while watching this). Sadly, we couldn’t go on all the touring adventures with them but I love seeing how they view Copenhagen based on their instagram photos (I’m really wishing I could use the app they use but alas, my iphone 3 doesn’t handle such novelties). Aren’t these fantastic photos?! We’re already planning our next adventure together. Let the good times roll!

What went on this week?
Made DIY mini art save-the-dates for Brooklyn Bride
Showed the awesome digs of our Berlin loft
Unnur guest blogged and created a Reykjavik, Iceland thrift store/vintage shopping guide
Amanda took some magical photos of some of my oversized paper flowers in the nearby park
