Day 31: How to draw a calla lily

How to draw a calla lily

And now…for our final trick…the calla lily! We’re ending our 31 Day Flower Drawing Challenge with this elegantly gorgeous flower. Take a look at the video to learn more about it and learn how to draw it.

Thank you for everyone who participated in the daily challenge in this month of May. You brought it! I hope it provided more information about the gorgeous floral beauties we see all around us. Spring is a wonderfully magical time full of new life, vibrant color, and popping buds. This challenge was intended to teach us a bit more about what we see around us and tap into our inner artist. I’m positive we all have something in us.

The challenge definitely does not need to be done solely in the month of May, so if you’re looking for a challenge, feel free to do it on your own in your own timeline. The videos are always up so no pressure!

I’ll be doing a summary of those who have participated in contributing their own work to the hash tag #LarsFlowerChallenge. As of right now, 795 pieces have been submitted. There are some drawings, acrylics, oils, watercolors, paper cuts, and cookies. Yes! I said cookies! You guys certainly got creative with this and I’m so tickled. You have until June 2nd to submit your work to be entered into the giveaway. One entrant will win a $200 gift card to Blick Art Supplies.

The winner will be announced next week along with a round up of work submitted to the tag.

As always, if you know someone who might be interested, please share the series, and subscribe to our channel. We’ll be sharing more tutorial videos soon so stay tuned.

Day 29: How to draw an eryngium

how to draw an eryngium

Day 29! How’s the challenge coming along? Are you using the weekend to catch up 😉 The next two days we’re featuring a couple of lesser known flowers, most likely ones you’ve seen but never knew the name of. Today’s is the eryngium. The spiky, bristly flower often used in bouquet fillers. Personally, I love the dusky texture they add. It will be a fun change up from some of the softer shaped flowers we’ve done.

If you’ve been liking this series, please share with someone else you also think might be interested!

And don’t forget, there’s a giveaway involved! For every drawing you post to Instagram and by subscribing to the YouTube Channel, you’re entered to win a $200 gift card to the art supply store, blick.com. Enter by posting with the tag #LarsFlowerChallenge. Good luck!

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all of my flower friends! For day 28 of the Daily Drawing Challenge, we bring you a gorgeous, full, and colorful flower, the dahlia.
I can’t help but smile when I see this beauty, whether it is drawn on paper or growing outside on this spring day. And wait until later summer when they seem to explode!
Watch the video from our new YouTube channel for all of the details! Don’t forget to show us your work on the hashtag: #LarsFlowerChallenge
And pssst: If you’re in San Francisco this weekend, do check out Tiffanie Turner’s residency at the DeYoung Museum. It’s all gorgeous paper flowers! More info here. You have until the end of the month!
