Disco Ball Ceiling Installation

DIsco ball ceiling hanging

The Disco balls have been trending over the past year and who can complain? With the way it catches the light and the tiny little mirrors, it deserves to have another moment in the sun! The resurgence of the mirrored ball got our wheels turning. We decided we needed to take the traditional disco ball to the next level. This Disco Ball Ceiling Installation is much more elevated than the traditional and will leave everyone gawking at your next shindig. Even if you’re not throwing a party, you can easily use this piece as home decor. And with just a few styling adjustments, this installation can transition from party decor to permanent art piece. A millennial pink color palette brought it all together! Can’t you picture it in a chic little loft apartment with a lush velvet couch? I’m thinking something like this or this. Long live the disco ball!DIsco ball ceiling hanging Read on →

DIY Bead Chandelier

DIY Bead Chandelier

We’ve got a Pottery Barn hack for you guys to try! You’ve probably seen this amazing bead chandelier making its way around the social media network. The layers of cascading beads have such a graceful look, but the natural wood keeps it fresh and easy to incorporate into any setting. We love it but with the $800 price tag, it’s a big dent in the monthly budget! Save where you can so you can splurge where you can, right? Of course, we automatically started to think of how we could replicate this beauty. A box of wooden beads, a handful of embroidery hoops, and a season of Friends later (yes, this one’s a bit time-consuming folks), we got just what we wanted! This chandelier could easily pass for an original. If you’ve got pennies to pinch and time to spare, this is the project for you! Total cost of supplies, $170! Score!

Lars’ Favorite Laptop Covers

Best laptop cases and coversIt’s that time of year when the stores are packed with new school supplies, fall clothes are starting to fill the catalogs, and the leaves are just barely starting to turn. We have mixed emotions about this whole fall thing, but we’re trying to embrace certain aspects of it. Insert: Back to school shopping. Although many of the Lars Team are finished with school, we often have college interns returning for fall semester. Perhaps you’re taking a few courses yourself, or have kids starting soon. Whatever your situation, this time of year everyone is allowed some “back to school shopping.” A little retail therapy is always a great way to transition to a new season. We’re covering laptop covers today, to ensure your tech accessories are in tip-top shape. Whether you’re at the library, the office, or working from home, it’s always nice to personalize and protect your laptop in a pretty case.

How to create a gallery wall to go with your TV

How to create a gallery wall to go with your TVLast month I shared with you my new TV, which is a camouflaged piece of art and you, rightfully so, went bananas, just like I did. I love my TV so much. I’m so pleased every time I walk in the door and look at it. It’s beautiful. We’ve been living in our apartment since we moved to Utah 4 years ago and I had been wanting to do something fun on the wall where it now sits. Originally I placed a row of bookshelves along the 15′ wall and thought I’d place some oversized pieces of art on it. I don’t know if you have the same problem, but I love the idea of accruing artwork from various places around the world that each tell a wonderful story of an adventure I’ve been on, but when it comes down to it, I rarely buy artwork when I travel because it’s super annoying to travel, not to mention unsafe and customs and tariffs and who even knows what. Well, like I mentioned, it’s been four years now and I had nothing on my walls as of a month ago. I knew I wanted something impactful to show you to go with the TV since the magic of it is that it does look like a piece of art, so I worked with Minted to help me create a beautiful gallery wall and you know what? They totally delivered. And today I’m showing you how I made it work, because it’s like one giant real-life puzzle. Let’s go!How to create a gallery wall to go with your TV Read on →
