One of the best parts of the holiday season is the ample opportunities to give! There’s no greater feeling than giving someone a truly meaningful gift. If you’re like me, you probably have a long list of people to give to and that can be a little overwhelming. Though our gift guides can help you there if you’re interested! But what do you get for those older and wiser loved ones? Grandparents, Godparents, mentors, and more; they are some of the most important people in our lives, but maybe the hardest to give gifts! So this year we decided to step up our game.
Who doesn’t love a dose of Christmas cheer on their front door? Yes, we’re talking about wreaths! They are the quintessential Christmas decor item and a lovely addition to any home! As an ode to our love of Scandinavia, we jazzed up a store-bought wreath with paper mushrooms. It’s such an easy project and the perfect touch of winter woodland whimsy! But that’s not all…
In addition to our paper mushroom wreath, we’re giving our grandparents the gift of life with Bay Alarm Medical Device. As those we hold near and dear to our hearts get a little older, it can be hard not to constantly worry about them. Thankfully with Bay Alarm Medical Device, you can rest assured that your loved ones will always be taken care of. With 24/7 help at the touch of a button, both in and out of their home, you won’t have that constant worry in the back of your mind and neither will your loved one! Can you think of a better gift and peace of mind? I chatted with my Grandma beforehand about the Bay Alarm Medical Device to make sure she would be on board with the idea. To my delight, she was just as thrilled about it as I was!

This Mobile GPS Help Button goes wherever your loved one goes, granting them freedom while still keeping them safe. It also allows the caregiver to check in on their current location or location history. With 24/7 on-the-go-protection, I can’t think of a better gift for my grandparents! Check out all the different options and systems at Bay Alarm Medical to see which one is the best fit for your loved one. The Bundle Package is a great (cost-effective!) option for individuals looking for at-home and cell coverage. It includes the GPS Help Button as well as resources at home to keep you safe no matter where you are.
I’m gifting the wreath to my Grandma at our annual family Christmas Party and I’m planning on giving her the alarm in private after all the fuss goes down. I want to be mindful of her feelings and I know she’ll appreciate the thought behind both gifts tremendously!
Paper Mushroom Wreath
Materials:
- Roll of butcher paper
- Masking tape
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Fake snow
Take a piece of butcher paper, anywhere around 5-inches by 8-inches. The size of the paper can vary on the size of mushroom you want. Begin by rolling a corner of the paper up. This will become the mushroom stem.
Once you have a stem your desired size, rip the paper half way up the paper, parallel to the stem.
Now begin to fold and crumple the paper to form a mushroom cap stem. It doesn’t have to be perfect!
Work your way around so you have a full cap. It won’t hold its shape completely yet, but don’t worry!
Grab your masking tape and begin to cover the whole mushroom starting at the base of the stem.
Continue onto the cap, continuing until it’s completely covered.
After the cap is completely covered, paint with acrylic paints. We chose pinks, blues, and greens, with a white stem and gills. Feel free to add some dots and brush strokes for texture.
Nestle into a wreath, along with some fake snow to complete your woodland wreath! We chose a flocked wreath because they’re our current favorite, but you can choose any kind of wreath.
