What’s Easter without dyeing eggs? There are lots of cool techniques and methods to create fun, patterned eggs, but sometimes simple is best. We’ve had fun dyeing Easter eggs for this Easter tree, and now we have another fun project!

For this Easter egg runner tablescape, we wanted to focus on the color palette more than anything else. We dyed our eggs in a bright and punchy palette of corals, chartreuse, and forest green to create this Easter Egg Runner Tablescape! Bonus? Instead of buying kits to dye your eggs, you just need basic food coloring! Plus a whole lot of eggs and the carton they come in! Set the table with some coordinating dinnerware, and you’re ready for Easter Brunch.

Easter Egg Runner Tablescape
Materials:
- 5 dozen eggs, with their large. We purchased 2 cases of 2 1/2 dozen eggs for $6
- Classic and Neon Food Coloring kits. Found at most all grocery stores
- Water
- Vinegar
- Bowls or containers to dye the eggs in
- Scissors
Hardboil your eggs:
- Hardboil your eggs in a large pot. Fill the pot with water to cover your eggs completely. I had a large enough pot that I was able to boil them all at the same time.
- Bring the water to a boil and boil for 6 minutes. Turn off the heat and let sit for a few minutes.
- Drain hot water and rinse with cold water.
Color Recipes:
For each color, mix 2 cups of hot water with 4 T of white vinegar
- Light Pink: 20 drops red food. Dip eggs into coloring and remove immediately
- Light Coral: 20 drops of neon pink. Let eggs sit for 2-3 minutes and remove. Then dip into a bath of 12 drops red and 8 drops orange and remove immediately
- Dark Coral: 20 drops of neon pink. Let eggs sit for 5 minutes and remove. Then dip into a bath of 12 drops red and 8 drops orange and removed immediately
- Chartreuse: 20 drops of green. Let eggs sit for 1-2 minutes. Then dip into a bath of 20 drops of yellow and remove immediately.
- Forest Green: 15 drops blue, 3 drops green, 2 drops red. Let eggs sit for 8-10 minutes and remove.
Create the Easter Egg Runner:
Cut the egg cartons in half to create 5 by 3 sections, as pictured above. We used the lid of the large egg cases we purchased. You’ll have 4 sections total to line the center of your table. Arrange your eggs into diagonal stripes that repeat. Set the table and you’re good to go! We used plates, napkins, and cups from Oh Happy Day’s new partyware collection!
