And we’re back! It’s been so fun to see all the excitement about our Sew Along this year featuring our new Lars Dress. This is going to be FUN! So, Week 1 was dedicated to gathering supplies, our tutorial video for sewing the plackets was released for Week 2, Week 3 consisted of sewing the keyhole, pockets and construction, and Week 4 is all about the sleeve & neckline binding as well as the hem. Of course, you are welcome to join in whenever, but if you want to stay on schedule, here’s how we’re doing it!
If you’re looking for materials and more of an explanation of the Lars Dress and Sew Along, see the post here.
Week 2: Making the placket
Week 2 video focuses on how to make the placket for the sleeves of the dress. It’s the trickiest part of the dress so it’s good to knock it out in the beginning so it’s free sailing from there. And when I say tricky, I mean it’s not extremely tricky, but if you are new to sewing, you’ll want to pay close attention. The pattern has photo instructions and the video should really help explain it all in more detail.
Week 3: Keyhole, pockets, and construction
Week 3 video focuses on how to sew the keyhole, pockets and construct the full shape of the dress. By the end of week 3, you should have the dress fully sewn except for the binding on the neckline and sleeves and the hem. Follow along on the tutorial video or in the instructions if you prefer photos & text instructions.
