Every year I think I’m going to make a picture perfect Easter basket and so far, in the history of me being a parent, I’d say my success rate is about 50%. I’m only 6 years in and I think I’ve done an ok job. BUT, I’m determined that this is the year where I’m really going to step up my game and I think by starting now, I can do. Where are you at with it all? It’s a lot of pressure! Here’s my list of cute Easter baskets along with adorable Easter fillers and non-candy versions too. Hopefully you find something that speaks to you too.
In the past I’ve just used whatever baskets I have lying around, but this year I’m determined to find something I really love and use it year after year. Is that what you do? That said, I’ve also found success at the thrift shop, which obviously has its environmental benefits, so you decide.

What makes a perfect Easter Basket
Because I overthink all holidays, here’s my formula for concocting the perfect Easter basket:
- Overall cuteness–33%. Is it adorable?
- On brand–33%. I know, I know, I also roll my eyes when I hear people talk about their “brand” when they are not a company, but I think it will help you decide. Think: Could I plug it into my home decor and it would fit in? If it wouldn’t, maybe it’s not the best choice. You don’t want to keep something you don’t want in your house do you?
- Size–33%. Will the eggs fall out as the kids are walking around hunting? If so, it’s not the basket for you! I bought an adorable papier mache bunny basket for Jasper’s first Easter and while it was cute and a bit weird, it was lopsided and all the eggs would fall out. He didn’t actually get to use it for the hunt, so it sits out as decor and I’m left thinking that perhaps I shouldn’t have bought it.
Ok, now that we’ve done the heavy hitting, here’s the good stuff.
Cutest Easter Baskets
There’s a price point for everyone here. Plus, I always love a nod to bunny ears but not super cartoony, you know?! If you’d like to see more, I have an Amazon shop where I picked out my favorites!
Easter Basket Fillers
I’ve been refining my opinions about what actually goes into the Easter basket over the years and there are a lot of considerations. Again, I like to overthink things–bear with me. On one hand, I want them to have lots of fun surprises–I loved it as a kid! On the other hand, I don’t want them to get too used to the idea of getting new things all the time and risk training a Veruca Salt. AND, let’s talk about the maintenance of new things coming into the home all the time. I mean, if every item needs a home, then I’m constantly juggling where all these items will be going, or if we even need them. Lately the answer is NO! I think this is a bigger topic to discuss, but for now, here are some questions I ask myself:
- Will the item hold their interest?
- Does it already have a home in the house? If not, then it’s out.
- Does it reference the holiday? (Personally, I don’t like to just throw in any toy that has nothing to do with the holiday)
Ideas for Easter basket fillers
Unlike the actual Easter basket itself, I don’t necessarily have a specific formula for what goes into it, more of selecting a few special items from the following list:
- Stuffed animal
- A book about Easter or spring
- Game
- Special candy (think Chocolate bunny or something)
- Toy
- Tattoos
- handmade memento
- Stickers
- Art Supplies
- Craft kit
- band-aids in their favorite licensed character (this is one way I do licensed characters-ha!)
- Accessories
- special holiday version of a toy they already like (like Lego)
- surprise ball (we’ve done these with Jasper every year and it’s a great tradition!)
And if you’d like to see more, I made an Easter basket filler list on Amazon.
And if you’re like me and love a good deal, my favorite shopping secret for Easter is TJ Maxx. They always have the best stuff! Not sponsored!
Hope this list helps–let me know if you have any other tips!
