You know the feeling when you find the perfect shirt and you feel like you need it in all the colors? Or the perfect pair of jeans so you buy 3 different washes in the same style? That’s how I feel about this necklace. I’m head over heals for this crepe paper fringe necklace! It’s a little bit bohemian, a little bit victorian, and the perfect accessory to add a bit of color to an outfit. We made the green one thinking it would be the perfect way to add a touch of green to your wardrobe for St. Patrick’s day. I love the way it looks against the dark blue dress. It’s a little moody and understated. But then I had another idea…
We decided to take it a step further and do a whole rainbow spectrum! I can’t help my affinity for rainbows, I think it’s part of my genetic makeup… but I’m not mad about it! The rainbow gave the necklace a completely different look! The way it pops against the graphic black and white window pane shirt is too good. So whether you go for monochromatic, rainbow, or both(!) you’ll be sure to make a statement!
To make your own, follow the instructions after the jump!
This lovely forest green version is a stunner, and would also be super lovely in yellow!
But the rainbow version just makes you smile, doesn’t it?!

Materials:
- Crepe paper in one or various shades
- Scissors
- Floral Wire
- Cold lobster clasps in large and small
- Gold jump rings
- A gold necklace chain
- A gold closure clasp
- Jewelry pliers
Directions:
- Cut 1/4″ strips of crepe paper. Make sure the strips run parallel to the grain of the crepe
- Twist the piece of crepe paper
- Fold the piece in half and loop around a piece of floral wire. Pull tight
- Repeat first 3 steps until you have the desired length for the necklace. Our necklaces were 3-4″ wide
- Trim crepe paper ends to about 3″ long.
- Slightly bend the wire to create an arch facing upwards. Trim the ends of the wire, leaving around 1/4″ on both sides.
- With a large lobster clasp, secure one onto the end of the fringe covered wire. Make sure the hole at the top of the clasp is facing up.
- Connect a jump ring onto the lobster clasp.
- Cut two pieces of metal chain about 10″ long. Attach a small lobster clasp to both ends of the chain
- Attach one end of the chain to the jump ring-large lobster clasp-fringed wire piece
- Repeat steps 7-10 on the other side of the necklace
- To finish, add a necklace closure clasp to the end of one chain with a jump ring. To the other side, just add a jump ring.
