As you know, I’m all about a pretty table, after resolving to create one tablescape a month (see last month’s here). But it’s difficult to always have a beautifully set table. Unless, of course, you have a designated “formal dining room” that remains untouched and only for admiring eyes. That being said, I tend to look for occasions and holidays that lend themselves to special decor.
Next on the agenda? Easter! Easter has always been a holiday that I spend with close family and friends eating, chatting, and enjoying the first signs of spring. I wanted to capture the bright and lovely essence of springtime by turning the table into a whimsical garden scene. There are painted paper flowers inspired by Lulie Wallace’s gorgeous paintings, which are also featured on the melamine plates we used. To join the fun, we made a family of origami candy chicks scattered along the table, each carrying a sweet HI-CHEW candy! Easter isn’t complete without candy and I love the bright, fruity flavors found in the HI-CHEW Spring Mix bag, and they’re a great alternative to chocolate eggs. Not to mention, the colors work perfectly with our tablescape!

Each origami chick got a sweet little nest of moss to rest on top of the napkin. This would be a perfect way to display a name tag if you wanted to make your gathering a bit more personal. Tucked with chewy strawberry (my personal favorite!), mango, and green apple HI-CHEW candies, your guests will appreciate the pre-meal treat!
The whole set-up has an overgrown, straight-from-the-garden look that feels so fresh and appropriate for an Easter gathering. I love the scattering of candy across the table, because adults need treats, too! Consider this an Easter Egg hunt in tablescape form. Plus, you can save yourself some time by just picking up the HI-CHEWS at select Walgreens, K-Mart, or Meijer! AKA more time for family and friends and enjoying the holiday.
Origami Candy Chick
For each origami candy chick, we used a 6″ by 6″ piece of origami paper. For the larger hens, we used a 12″ by 12″ piece of butcher paper.
Voila! Your Origami Candy Chick is ready to flaunt its feathers!
