Since our first Camp Lars post, where we compiled our favorite kids activities from the archives, we’ve been thinking about ways we can help you and your kids have a fun, meaningful summer! As the time spent at home before school starts again continues, the need for new projects grows too! And what about helping your kids gear up for a new school year come fall? Summer can be a great opportunity to get your kids ahead and excited to learn. That’s where these summer homeschool activities come in!
The entire reason we are promoting crafting during this time is we know the power of creating. Keeping your kids’ hands and minds busy can help improve their focus and stimulate their imaginations. We understand not everyone has loads of time on their hands, let alone the energy to wrangle your kids to clean up their “artistic process.” This post is for the days when you need something simple, clean, and work-free! Below you will find favorite summer homeschool activities for kids that promote learning, curiosity, imagination, and of course, COLOR – without any work (or batteries) needed.
Just hand your kids one of these kits, books, or puzzles, and take a break! You deserve it!

Make homeschool exciting
Though some of you might be loving having your kids at home all the time, trying to find creative ways to help them keep learning over the summer might not be going as well as you had hoped. Below are some helpful tools to keep their math and geography knowledge as sharp as ever until they go back to school in the fall. Because as easy as it is to plop your kids down to watch an endless amount of movies over the summer, it’s definitely not ideal for their cognitive development. These ideas will still give you the breather you need, but will also give your kids productive and stimulating ways to spend their time that don’t involve a screen.
