Every year we like to make a special ornament for the holiday season. This year we decided to make a 3D printable Christmas star. I LOVE how they turned out! We made them in a number of styles and colors so you can print them off and have a fun time folding them with friends or family while you gather together. These stars can be used as ornaments, garlands, gift toppers, or table centerpieces. The best part? With a printable template and a few basic supplies, you can create stunning folded stars with ease. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to craft a beautiful Christmas folded star.

Instructions
Print off the template
-
The printable can be downloaded from our shop onto standard printer paper, 8.5×11″ and each page comes with two squares. Each star consists of two squares.
Fold the star
-
Fold the star by first folding it in half. There are light lines indicating where to fold to make it easier.
-
Then in half the other way.
-
Then fold it along the diagonal line.
-
Then along the other diagonal line.
-
With your scissors, cut about an 1″ on each side as indicated by the dotted lines.
-
Once the sides have been cut, fold to create a point on each end.
-
Repeat this to every side on each of the 4 points.
-
With a glue stick, fold one of each sides of the points and glue the other side on top.
-
This will create the 3D quality of the star.
-
Repeat to the other square so that you have two star pieces.
-
With a glue gun, glue on the perimeter of the middle of the star.
-
Then add the other piece on top gingerly so that it fits perfectly around. You’re going to want to use your glue gun sparingly so that the glue doesn’t seep out.
Add ribbon to create an ornament.
-
If you are wanting to turn your star into an ornament, add your ribbon by creating a loop.
-
Then glue the loop to the top of one of the points.
-
Insert the loop into the point.
-
And you’ve got a lovely ornament! Alternatively, you don’t need to add on a ribbon and it’s good to set out as decoration!
Aren’t they so special?! I love that you can do so many things with them!
As always, if you make them, we’d LOVE to see how you styled them! Tag us with #HolidaysWithLars or #LarsMakes so we can all admire them!
