Do you keep a physical calendar? Here are 3 calendar must haves and why you need them!
Yesterday I appeared on KSL Studio 5 with Brooke Walker, which is one of my favorite things to do. Whenever we get together we have the best time. This time around I got to talk about 3 calendars that every woman should have. While I am very much a product of my time with all the Google Calendaring I do, but it’s not right for every circumstance. Here’s what I do in case it’s helpful for you too!
1. Front and Center calendar
I had been looking for a big calendar for awhile before we came out with our Blue Sky collection this year. I wanted one that could go on a wall that wasn’t hideous, which, turns out, is tough to do (I dare you to try it–woof!) With our Blue Sky collection I wanted something that was bright and floral with touches of elegance with gold leaf and that’s exactly what we did.
I wanted this big calendar to go in a spot that everyone looks at. In fact, when I was designing my kitchen I planned a perfect spot for it so it’s the first thing you see when you walk in. At the beginning of summer I sat down with my boys and we made a list of all the things that we wanted to do. We spent some time plugging them into the calendar together and he started to become more thoughtful in how we approach a calendar.
Jasper has a tough time with transitions and surprises in his schedule so planning this out was kind of life changing in a way. We even printed off some pictures to represent the things we were doing and that really motivated him to become involved as he and Felix both wanted to glue them onto the calendar. For the fall we have done the same thing but with our regular schedule of soccer practice, piano, etc.
The clincher is to sit down regularly and look over the calendar together so that we are all on board with it. My goal is to avoid surprises in his schedule. Jasper needs consistency in his schedule and I’m doing everything in my power to keep him regulated in that.
2. Binder calendar
One of my favorite calendars in the collection is our 3 ring binder calendar. It’s thin so it fits into a binder super easily and doesn’t take up a lot of space. I like to leave mine in the binder I use for my church assignment, which is teaching the kids song in primary. That way, I have something specific for church and I never lose it. It just stays snug as a bug in a rug in there and since I bring the binder every week, I bring my calendar too!
I’m not sure how students keep assignments these days but I organized my work 20 years ago in 3 ring binders. Does that still happen? Someone enlighten me! Ha! This is a great tip for students too if you use a similar method.
3. Tiny purse calendar
My favorite tip is the tiny calendar. I put this in my fanny pack, purse, wherever I go and it’s small enough that it fits everywhere! It’s a game changer! Plus, it’s adorable and only $7! I love the accessibilty of the tiny calendar and would recommend it to everyone.
Combining calendars
Now, the clincher is to make sure all the info is shared with the right people. So every morning I take a minute or two and combine the info and share it with the right people whether that’s on Google Calendars or what not. Things like my church binder are great because it’s mostly just for me and I need it for a specific purpose so I know right where it is.
You can find our whole Blue Sky Collection only in Staples Stores!
Do you have anything you’d add? Would love to hear your calendaring tips!
