DIY Valentine’s Day branch tree

When I’m decorating for the holidays I like decor that’s a bit natural and a lot whimsical so I decided to try out a Valentine’s version of a Scandinavian Christmas branch tree (like the one that Tina did here). I added on tons of hearts with an accent of pink and red birds and I love how it turned out. I can’t wait to put it out when the holiday draws closer! We displayed it in an interior by interior designers Owens and Davis. Such a gorgeous place to shoot in!

Valentine’s Day Heart Tree

Materials:

Find the materials here

  • scrapbook paper in pinks, reds, glitters or whatever your heart desires
  • baker’s twine in pink and red
  • clip on birds
  • branches (I collected mine from my parent’s yard)
  • white spray paint
  • white pitcher or vase

Steps:

  1. Gather your bunch of branches and make sure they are of a similar height. You’ll want a bunch of them too so they don’t look to scraggly.
  2. Lay the branches out on newspaper and spray them white. Double coat if necessary!
  3. Start by clipping the birds on the branches. Make sure they are evenly scattered.

To make the hearts:

  1. Download the template HERE.
  2. I used the same technique that I did for the Polish chandelier pajaki (find the tutorial here)
  3. Make a hook in the twine by knotting it with a little loop.
  4. Hang the hearts evenly throughout the branches.

Voila! Enjoy your branch tree! And I’d love to see your work if you make it! Post it and tag it with #LarsMakes
