Becca here with a post-wedding recap! It’s been over a month since we got married and we just got all our pictures back from the big day! Scrolling through pictures, I was able to relive every moment and found myself smiling the whole time. Thinking back on our wedding day, it was everything I had imagined. And seeing my vision come to life made me absolutely giddy! I am a firm believer in utilizing your resources when it comes to wedding planning, and I could never have done it without so many talented and gracious people.
Creating an inspiration board early on in the wedding planning process was essential for me! Not only did it help me identify and narrow my focus for what I wanted, it was also extremely helpful to use as a reference for those contributing. Everyone understood the look I was going for and so many people pitched in to make it happen! Never underestimate the power of help.
Here’s a peek inside the reception!
We had our families all dress in shades of blue and white, but let them choose their exact outfits. I love the way all the colors and patterns looked together. It was the perfect compliment to the lush green backdrop.
Our reception was in the backyard of one of my family members. They have the most beautiful yard, with a big white barn and plenty of space for a large event. We used wooden farmhouse tables to keep it natural and compliment the wildflowers on the tables.
We covered the whole area with market lighting which really set a fun mood and kept the space cozier by creating some boundaries.
Our dinner was buffet style, but I still wanted the table to appear to be set. As a solution, we used paper placemats (from here!) with an artsy blue setting that went perfectly with my theme. I love the detail they added to the tables!
I absolutely LOVED my cake! Out four-tiered cake was frosted with a thin crumb coat of frosting and then covered with wildflowers and berries. We also added our The House That Lars Built for Alexis Maddox wooden cake toppers. I love how whimsical it turned out!
In addition to our wedding cake, I had my aunts, cousins, and close friends all bake their favorite cookies, bars, and treats to create a little dessert bar. These women have all played huge roles as mentors and friends in my life and I loved having them be a part of my wedding this way.
We used a variety of antique china which I felt was far more interesting than plain white. They brought such charm to the tables.
We had a few golf carts to help chauffeur people up to the reception from the parking lot a little ways off. The kids might have found better use of it though 😉
Please tell me there are fellow carrot cake lovers out there!
My husband was very adamant that we have dancing at our reception and how glad I was that we did! Dancing adds such a fun element to the night and lets everyone come together and enjoy the night!
We had a few games scattered out on the lawn for everyone to enjoy!
With bubbles on our heals, we headed off on our honeymoon with full hearts! It was a perfect day and I honestly can’t think of a single thing I would change. Although I did forget to throw the bouquet, oops! There are worse things. Now, I’m just sad that I won’t be able to plan my own wedding ever again!
