Happy August! We love an occasional book about fashion, so this month’s book is a good one, and easy summer read too. When the Irish Catholic family of young Bill Cunningham realized he was enamored with fashion, they were horrified. But Bill thrived on fancy clothing, designing hats, and making people and things beautiful! Fashion Climbing: A Memoir in Photographs is Cunningham’s posthumous memoir, detailing his interests as a boy, and big breaks as a young man. Eventually, his career led him to years of covering fashion for several publications as well as photographing for the New York Times.
