Rubi Jones, the creative mastermind hair stylist behind She Lets Her Hair Down, was visiting Salt Lake City for a few days a couple of weeks ago just as I moved here to UT. You see, Rubi lives in Paris and I had hoped that there’d be a way to get her to Copenhagen, but alas, here we meet in America. I love this little world of ours. Anyway, we had to act fast and Jessica Peterson, a wonderful photographer in SLC, happily stepped in to work her magic. My sister, Caitlin Watson, was kind enough to step in as our model and together we had a great day. Caitlin and her boyfriend, Tanner, promptly got to work making some fancy chalkboard drawings to accompany the scene–just off the cuff!
As you may know, I have a thing for flowers, and I’ve been wanting to do my take on a honkin floral headpiece…so without further ado…honkin floral headpiece, meet the internet, internet meet honking floral headpiece. Are we good now?
I have to give a bit of background behind the shoot. Like I mentioned, I had moved here 3 days prior to the shoot so I wasn’t working with a whole lot (I left my whole craft supply/resources back in Denmark). We drove to Costco on the way there to pick up the most photogenic flowers we could find, which turned out to be these purple mums and some pink and peach carnations. Then we dropped by the thrift store to see if we could find a backdrop and low and behold we found this bright floral bedsheet. Caitlin has a vintage dress wardrobe that could clothe the populations of 4 countries in Africa, so we were set.
We have three scenes from the shoot so stay tuned over next few days.
