This Girl This Girl This Girl

I had unofficially retired our This Girl because I didn’t know know if you were digging them or not, but after hearing about how much you missed Her through your feedback, I decided that we we need to bring Her back!

What is This Girl?

I started the This Girl series back in 2011 (here’s the first one!). After spending so much time collecting images on Pinterest, I started to see some color and style connections between interiors, products, and fashion. There were a lot of lovely ladies in wonderful outfits that I loved, knowing I’d never be able to afford them, but I still related to Her in some way and loved creating a world that she resided in. I’m guessing that there’s a This Girl you relate to as well and if you do, let me know! I’d love to hear which one tickles your fancy. I hope you can find some inspiration in this series that will be re-commencing starting….now!

Who is This Girl?

Today’s This Girl is in honor of impending autumn. In fact, it’s raining cats and dogs today here in Utah and I’m wishing I had the perfect rain coat to dash outside.

Paper Flower Bridal Hair Piece

Paper Flower Bridal Hair Piece

Is there anything better than getting dolled up, wearing sequins and sparkles, and feeling like a queen? Those opportunities are few and far between so when they arise, we jump on the opportunity. Inspired by the styles from the Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2014 Runway, we wanted to create an ethereal, paper flower bridal hair piece that would be pretty enough to don on your wedding day! Certainly not your traditional hairdo for a fancier occasion, this is certain to turn heads! All that’s required is crepe paper, floral wire and tape, and some glue. And can we talk about that dress? It’s no longer available but everything BHLDN does is flawless! We’re swooning over the whole thing!

This Girl: Giant Paper Sequin Background

Giant Paper Sequin Background Sometimes you come across an image that you just can’t seem to get out of your mind. Such was the case with this photo. Can a dress be any more perfect? I would argue, no, it cannot. But, since I’m assuming that perfect sequin frock would cost my whole life savings, I knew I needed to come up with a different interpretation of it. Insert: the Giant Paper Sequin Background! The perfect party backdrop for a girl who loves her sparkles. All you need for this easy DIY is glitter paper in a variety of colors, some straws and a pair of scissors. This project is ideal for a group, so get your girlfriends together, turn on the Bachelorette, and cut out circles! Sequins have never looked better.

This Girl: DIY Paper Earrings

DIY paper earrings

DIY paper earrings
Do you guys remember This Girl posts? Well, we’re bringing them back! This time though, we’re not just matching a space to a girl, we are creating projects inspired by her whole demeanor! When I first saw this outfit, I knew we had to create something in the same vein. The bright citrusy palette, the color block pattern, the long skirt and crop top combination, it’s all gold! We settled on a smaller interpretation of the palette through DIY Paper Earrings! Yes, PAPER earrings. All you need is cardstock and some jewelry hardware. We’ve provided the templates for you as a free downloadable printable that you can use with your craft cutter (or just cut out by hand. With a few geometric shapes, we were able to create 8 different variations, so the possibilities are endless!

I thought they’d make a great addition to your Easter outfit so I’m giving some options below!

Our 2017 Mantra

2017 mantra
Friends, we are so excited for the year of 2017! We are mixing things up a bit at Lars and incorporating a new direction and game plan. I couldn’t be more thrilled about it! No7 challenged me to share how I’ll be more confident and ready in the new year and I knew exactly how I wanted to address that: Travel. It started with a spur of the moment decision to buy plane tickets to Europe. Generally speaking, I’m all about planning in advance, but when there is a screamin’ deal, what’s a girl to do?!  So with the illustration skills of our friend Merrilee Liddiard, we created our 2017 mantra, “Buy the plane ticket. You’ll be ready for the trip.” We mean this both literally and figuratively. How often do we dream about traveling to amazing places but put it off because of money, bad timing, social conflicts, the dog, did we mention money?

Our proposed solution is to simply buy the ticket when it’s cheap and make it work! You will never regret filling your life with memorable experiences, so just bite the bullet and things will work themselves out! I love how No7 is encouraging women to take action in their lives. That is what we are all about here at Lars: experiencing, appreciating, and creating beauty together. We should always be ready for that! We don’t want to reveal too much, (because what’s the fun it that?) but trust me when I say it’s gonna be real good. We’re so excited to be taking this journey and hope you join in on the fun. So pack your bags and get ready for 2017! Read on →
