We celebrated my sister, Caitlin, and her soon-to-be baby in June with an Alexander Girard themed shower. My sister has always marched to the beat of her own drum and has been a major source of inspiration to me. Thus, I knew we couldn’t do a simple, common baby shower theme. No, no! We took a cue from one of her favorite designers, mid-century master, Alexander Girard (read more about him here). My mom, sister, and I all love going to town with a theme so we all added something from wherever we live. Up here in Utah, our team created the simple shape garlands in Girard colors, Mom created baby blocks out of boxes, and Caitlin created cardboard puppets based on Girard’s dolls.
I provided the downloadable printables of the baby block invitation featured in this post, and I’m providing the rest of the design elements in this post. You can also download the invitation components HERE and HERE. We made some cupcake toppers (see above), a printable gift list, and stickers, which we added to the envelopes.
Here’s a better look at the puppets that Caitlin made as well as the baby blocks that my mom made.
Baby Jasper had a ball visiting with our beloved niece. I love her so much!
And It was so fun to see friends who I hadn’t seen in a while.
We left out a set of bare wooden blocks for people to paint. We sealed it off with some baby friendly sealer so Baby can have some lovingly made block sets!
Printable cupcake toppers
Now, onto the printables! We created some adorable cupcake toppers that you can print off and add to a toothpick for some cupcakes in classic Girard-inspired designs. Download here.
Printable gift list
I thought it would be helpful to have a gift list printable that acts more of a memory than a throw-away post it note that you never can locate. Here’s the link to download.
