Some of you may recall a post I wrote a while back about My New Green Sofa. Well, this time around I wanted to talk about a little something called Mary’s New Leather Sofa, or, as we’ve come to call it, the big comfy cozy couch. Seriously, it’s great! I could nap on it for days (on one or two occasions, I might have even done just that). Read on →
This is our second post in our new series called, In the Mood For. See previous posts here.
I have officially decided that, if given the opportunity, I could indeed live in an Alexander Girard themed home and lead what might just be my very best life. Remember my obsession (see here). I find so much beauty and inspiration in his work that it felt only natural to dream up what part of my Girard themed home might look like. This is only a fraction of what I would like to do, I couldn’t throw myself all the way in for fear of being completely brokenhearted by not being able to actualize this dream!
I hope you love this as much as I do… and if you don’t know Alexander yet please take a moment to look at his work. It just might move you tears. Read on →
There are few things more important to me than having a home that feels lived in, comfortable, and beautiful. I have found that one of the easiest ways to accomplish this is by hanging art on the walls! The only downsides to hanging art of the walls are 1. finding that perfect piece and 2. the cost of that perfect piece. For a long time I poo-pooed on hanging anything that wasn’t original artwork on my walls. I have since seen the light, repented of my old ways, and come to love art prints and exhibition posters for my walls, especially since I can’t afford the original art I’d prefer.
I find myself especially drawn to exhibition poster trend because of the sentimentality that they can hold from ones I have visited or even just for the love of a certain artist. Hopefully in my dream home I’ll stick exclusively to original artworks, but I have a pretty good feeling that some of my favorite exhibition posters will make the cut for to help my house feel like home. These are just a few (27 to be exact, I couldn’t help myself… so many good ones!) of my favorite exhibition posters that would look amazing framed and up on any wall! Read on →
Have you seen the latest in Mary’s guest room (check it out here)! From the beautiful wallpaper to the multifunctional furniture pieces, everything came together quite nicely and we are in love. The open window is one of her favorites as it accentuates how tall the ceilings really are. In turn, however, this made some of the decor pieces, like the pillows, seem a little undersized. Now, we love pillows just as much as the next person, so we decided our best option was to start looking for some larger statement pillows. And just in the nick of time, Serena & Lily began their friends and family sale!
Anyone remember the post I did about my love for rattan? I wrote it when I was searching for furniture and I fell in love with rattan cribs. At the time it was difficult to locate beautiful rattan furniture–it was mostly just vintage–but now the rattan trend has exploded. We have watched rattan furniture blow up in the last few months and we’ve gone from slim pickings to complete abundance which I couldn’t be more thrilled about! Here are a few of my favorites in case you love rattan as much I do!
