We have designated June as birthday month, not because of the year I started this blog, but because it’s MY birthday–ha! And we liked to dedicate our craft projects to things you can make for a birthday recipient or ways to celebrate.
Is there anything better than a birthday? It’s your own personal holiday–the one day out of the 365 that is set aside just for you. Isn’t that a major cause to celebrate? We think so! Half the fun of birthdays is the crafting and decorating that goes into making the day feel different from every other. We’re excited to see how you incorporate these fun birthday projects into your next celebration!
8 things to make to celebrate a birthday
1. Twisted Birthday Candles
Sometimes the smallest details make a party come to life, and these candles fall into that category. These DIY twisted birthday candles are the perfect unique and whimsical addition to any birthday cake and are also a fun and easy birthday craft!
2. Birthday crowns
As mentioned earlier, birthdays should be the day that people feel like the most wonderful, special, most beloved individuals in all the land. That’s really not too much to ask for–just one day, where you celebrate how the birthday haver’s presence has influenced your life. A birthday crown is one simple way to make someone feel special on their big day! Over the years we’ve experimented with a variety of birthday crowns and have loved each of them! Explore endless birthday possibilities with our DIY pipe cleaner crowns and birthday candle crown, or save a bit of time and use our printable birthday crown template! These birthday crowns are sure to make your birthday girl or boy feel like royalty (as they should).
3. Cake topper flags
Cake and birthdays go hand in hand, just like cake and fun cake toppers–they need each other. These ribbon flag cake toppers are the perfect way to dress up any birthday cake and are super easy to put together! Hopefully, these flags can help you spend less time in the kitchen and more time with the person you love on their special day.
4. DIY birthday pennants
These DIY birthday pennants are so cute you’re going to want to leave them out long after the birthday festivities! With minimal materials and time, you can create cute birthday decor you’ll want to use year after year.
5. Birthday printables
As magical and fun as birthdays are they do have a way of sneaking up on us, leaving us scrambling the night before to decorate, bake, and get last-minute shopping done. Let us help with some of the birthday prep stress with these fun birthday printables! We have banners, cake toppers, invitations, and birthday crowns ready to help you celebrate your favorite people in color and style. We also have a variety of different themed printables if you’re looking for something more specific!
6. Floral birthday number cake toppers
These whimsical and elegant floral numbers are the perfect DIY cake toppers for any spring or summer birthday! Their dainty prettiness is easily achieved with minimal supplies–just some crepe paper and floral wire stems–and will surely make you feel like a woodland fairy. If A Midsummer Night’s Dream had birthday cake toppers in it, it would probably have these ones.
7. Birthday Banner
Nothing says, “I love you and today you are the most important person in the whole world” quite like a birthday banner. They transform regular, everyday spaces into birthday wonderlands and remind everyone that today is not like every other day–today is birthday day. These colorful banners are the perfect addition to every birthday celebration!
8. Birthday cake chandelier
Birthday. Cake. Chandelier. Need we say more? It’s cute, it’s printable, and looks fancy enough for even the queen’s birthday soiree. Think a grownup pinata, AKA a dream come true.
Birthdays only come around once a year, giving us a singular annual opportunity to dedicate a day to the people we love (ourselves included) and celebrate all we love about them. They are a BIG DEAL, and we are grateful for any excuse we have to celebrate the goodness of people AND throw a bit more color and flowers into the world. We hope you can use these DIY birthday projects to make your next birthday celebration the best one yet–or at least until next year. 😉
