
You’re probably familiar with Picasso’s Cubism movement, pioneering a modern form ofย abstract art that countered the long held belief that paintings should be a realistic interpretation of reality. However, you’re probably not familiar with his more simplistic line drawings. One specific portrait by Picasso captured our hearts and we decided to create aย wire rendition of his portrait!ย Perfect to hang over your desk or to fill an empty space on a wall, this DIY Wire portrait adds a bit of artistry to your home. Simply print off the picture to use as a template and start bending the wire to follow the lines. You’ll have a masterpiece even Picasso would be proud of ๐ You could apply this same technique to your own drawings!

DIY Wire Portrait
Materials:ย
- Picasso drawing, HERE
- Wire
- Pliers
- Wire cutters
- Washi tape
Instructions:ย
- Print off the original painting you are planning on imitating. We used this one, but you could use any line drawing!
- Choose a spot to begin and secure the end of the wire with a piece of washi tape, so you can easily remove it later on.
- Follow the lines with the wire, twisting the wire with pliers in areas where you need to secure pieces together.
