I was hoping to share a rad stop motion baby announcement with you next week, but in a sudden twist of plans, I’m sad to report that I was pregnant for 11 weeks and yesterday the baby decided it wasn’t the right time to make its appearance just yet. 🙁
Last week I featured our trip to Salvation Mountain over the holiday break. I was super inspired by colors and patterns of Leonard Knight’s painted mountain, which is covered with stripes and flowers and trees, everything my #CraftTheRainbow heart could desire. It felt like an explosion of everything going on inside my brain.
Like I mentioned last week in my State of the Blog Address, one of my goals that I’m choosing to focus on this year is keeping to my own inspiration, versus the floods of inspiration that come immediately from Pinterest or Instagram so I decided to put paint to paper after our trip. My sister had painted some plain papier mache trays out at my parent’s house and I quickly claimed them and applied some patterns and colors as inspired by Salvation Mountain (that’s what sisters are for, right?!). Because another goal of mine is to be more organized (like the rest of the world for the first month of the year) I’m using these trays for paperwork and such. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Believe it or not, when it comes to blogging I’m a bit shy to show my face. In fact, I had a really hard time writing about myself in the first few years of the blog. So much so, that most people called me Lars and didn’t know what I looked like. Ha! Well, I brushed away some of my shyness (I did do #DressTheRainbow after all!) to model three holiday looks with one of my favorite make up companies, Benefit Cosmetics. There’s the “going to the Nutcracker” look, Mad Men inspired look, and winter wonderland look.
I was so nervous this would turn into a vanity project but I proceeded because I have been in a make up slump for the past many years and when it does come time to actually wear some I haven’t the slightest clue how to do it or how to find something that works for my coloring or my ultra dry skin. I had lost hope in finding something that would work for me.
BUT, I’m here today to tell you there’s hope. Ha! No really! And there’s no better time to play with make up than for all those holiday festivities you have on your calendar. What I love about Benefit is that they don’t take themselves too seriously and neither do I, so we had FUN creating these three looks. Because life’s too short to take it seriously!
So, take a look at the three holiday looks below and find something that would work for you. AND, fun news! I’m giving away a complete set of make up from one of the looks to one reader! Find out below how to enter!
Guys! I still don’t know what I’m doing for Halloween. I love to dress, but per usual, I have nothing planned! It usually comes down to a last minute costume. What are you doing? This week we had a lot of fun projects behind the scenes and I cannot wait to show them to you. Glee! Stay tuned!
